Who Is Going To Hell?

The Fight between God and the devil, good and evil, right and wrong, heaven and hell. Where are you going when you breathe your last breathe? When the bell tolls, were you good enough to go to heaven? Or did you fall short and end up in hell? We know that the saved go to heaven, but who is going to hell?

What Is Hell?

Hell in the dictionary is a place regarded in various religions as a spiritual realm of evil and suffering. Often traditionally depicted as a place of perpetual fire beneath the earth where the wicked are punished after death.

Mark 9:44

Where “Their worm does not die And the fire is not quenched.”

This verse gives us a vision of the worm, being a maggot that never dies and feeds on rotting flesh, as well as a fire burning flesh for all eternity.

In the time of Jesus there was a disposal site called Gehenna on the south end of Jerusalem, where there was a constant burning fire to dispose of the waste that was left there from trash, animal carcasses and convicted criminals. During the old testament times it had been a pagan site for child sacrifices, because of this the Jews considered Gehenna to be a cursed place full of filth.

The Greek word Gehenna translated as hell, is the Hebrew name for a place known as the Valley of Hinnom. Jews associated this place with spiritual death, and is why Jesus used this representation to describe what hell is like.

Isaiah 66:24

“And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, and their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Why Is There A Hell?

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

During the beginning there was no need for hell. Only as sin came did God feel the need to make a place of punishment. Now sin started from the very beginning and seemed to get worse as time went by. Adam and Eve to Sodom and Gomorrah, and you would think that If God took out a whole city because of sin that people would get the point.

So to let man know what is right and wrong, God gave us the 10 commandments to follow. With simple things such as not lying, stealing, killing to other rules like sex before marriage or same sex couples. (List of the commandments in the book of Exodus).

So With all the sin in the world God made a place of punishment for all those who cannot follow the rules. Just as a parent will punish a child to teach them what happens when we break the rules, God has let us know that if we don’t follow the rules that there’s a punishment waiting for us.

Who Will Be Going?

The people who will go to hell will be those who have not repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. See even with God telling us what the rules are, we still chose not to follow them. Our flesh is weak and we don’t have any self control. We grow up with sin in our hearts. Blinded by lust, possessions and money. Hate and violence fill our minds so much that we miss the importance of what really matters.

Revelations 21:8

but as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death”

What Can You Do To Keep From Going To Hell?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave his only-begotten Son, (Jesus) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

So we must accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, and ask forgiveness of our sins. We must also change our lives and strive to be more like Jesus and live a righteous life and love one another like God loves us.

John 3:17

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:14

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so “‘must the Son Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:18

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

Conclusion

Hell is an awful place of punishment for all who do not accept Jesus as God’s Son and accept Him as our Lord and Saviour. A place for those who continue to sin through lies, theft, sexual immorality, murder, adultery. In short not following the rules that God has given us.

God is our father and we are His children, so just like a parent would discipline a child, so will God. Some discipline is in the form of the struggles we have in life. As we live outside of Gods rules we have a hard time because we are not living for who our Father intended us to be. Our parents set rules to protect us from the world, so that we may be safe and succeed in life. God has set rules for the same reason. Yet we continue to disobey him just as we do or did our parents.

Now that we have disobeyed we struggle through everyday life, but not only that God has given us a spirit that will either go to heaven or to hell. It all depends on you to live like God intended you to of suffer the consequences when you die.

  1. Christian Life- I can tell that you have a zeal for what you say. That is important, but it should also be tempered. I enjoyed the bits of historical facts that are often left out of most “Salvation Posts.” That being said, I would change it up a bit. As an avid academic sort, I have read lots of Christian literature- you want to save souls, that is clear, but maybe open up and be a bit more personal? The site is called your personal life- include that.

I would think of trying to save people like selling goods- people want to trust you before they make any decisions. It may not seem like it, but you are selling salvation (no, there is no cost, but the marketing rules still apply). You have to abide by the principle of marketing- you have to make it desirable.

I can tell that you have spent time fine-tuning the graphics and the overall look of the site, while this is important, it is not those things that will help you rank higher.

I would love to continue discussing this more or answering any other questions you might have. Just let me know!

    1. I thank you for your input, I welcome any help I can get. With that being said, I have put most of my life’s trials and tribulations as examples in other articles on my site. I haven’t felt the need to put my life into every article due to the fact that my site is about learning to follow Christ. Some articles are just for information that some may be looking for that God may lead me to share. I welcome you to read more on my site. I’m always looking for other outlooks on things. Thank you for taking the time to look and reading into my site.

      God Bless!

  3. The essence of Jesus christ coming into the world was to take away the yoke of sin and death and when we receive the life that he has brought, that is the abundant life. we become empowered to live above sin and there by escaping the torment of hell. thank you very much for this
